A Second Chance at Life: Rio's Story

Four years of suffering, every treatment tried, and a heartbreaking decision looming- until EquiSol Red Light Therapy changed everything.

Meet Rio.

Rio is an adult gelding who has battled summer sores — a painful, parasitic skin disease — every summer for four years running. This past season was the worst yet, with more sores than he'd ever had at once. His owner, Emily, had tried every medication and treatment she could find. Nothing worked. As the sores worsened and Rio's pain became impossible to watch, Emily found herself facing an unbearable choice.

"I've tried every medication you can possibly think of and nothing was working," Emily shared. "I was actually considering euthanasia because I didn't want him to continue to suffer." With no conventional options left, Emily reached out to equine wellness expert Jackie, who recommended EquiSol's Red Light Therapy Bell Boots. In May 2024, Emily began treating Rio every morning for 15 minutes — sometimes adding a second session in the evenings.

The change was visible almost immediately. "Throughout the process I could see a daily change of the sores beginning to shrink." Flies decreased around the sores, the tissue began producing healthy wound fluid instead of bleeding, and even the largest, most stubborn sore finally started to close. Within 90 days, the sores were cleared up and gone.

Rio now walks out of his stall without taking a bad step and canters freely with his friends. "Thank you EquiSol for saving Rio's life!" Emily says simply — and we couldn't be more honored to have been part of his journey.
