Back in the Arena: Rhett's Story

When a high-motion injury threatened to sideline this rodeo horse for good, EquiSol Red Light Therapy helped him make a full, and remarkable, recovery.

Meet Rhett.

An 8-year-old Quarter Horse gelding, Rhett is the kind of horse that lives for the spotlight. Whether he's working cattle in the cutting pen, riding in a parade, or competing at a rodeo event, he brings heart and presence to everything he does. His owner, Rachel, has built her partnership with Rhett around trust, consistency, and an unwillingness to accept anything less than his best life.

That partnership was tested on July 12th, when Rhett suffered a serious laceration to his knee- a wound significant enough to require immediate veterinary attention, surgical stitches, and three months of stall rest.

Laceration injuries on horses are always serious. But a wound directly over a joint introduces a level of risk that goes far beyond the cut itself.

Because Rhett's injury was located on the front of his knee, a high-motion area that flexes with every step, Rachel faced two major concerns during his recovery. The first was infection. A joint-adjacent wound carries real risk of septic arthritis, a potentially career-ending (and life-threatening) complication. The second was scar tissue. Without proper healing, the tissue repair process can leave behind dense, inflexible scarring that permanently limits range of motion — especially problematic for a horse whose work demands athleticism and agility.

The vet did a remarkable job with the sutures, and the wound was closed successfully. But as the stitches came out on July 21st, the healing process had stalled. The site was still raw, inflamed, and far from resolved. Rachel knew she needed to do more.

On the recommendation of equine wellness expert Jackie, Rachel began applying the EquiSol Red Light Therapy Wrap to the wound for 15 minutes daily. "Knowing how much knowledge Jackie has and the research she does, I felt confident giving the infrared light therapy a shot," Rachel shared.

"After the FIRST USE, I immediately became a believer — you could visually see the tissue starting to heal as it brought circulation to the area." Rachel began photographing the wound after every session. Over just 9 days, the transformation was undeniable. The wound closed cleanly, inflammation resolved, and scar tissue was minimal. "After just 6 days, you could tell what a night and day difference it made."

Rhett returned to work with 100% range of motion restored and no signs of infection. "I credit the infrared light therapy as a HUGE part of Rhett's journey to healing and making a full recovery. I encourage everyone to use red light therapy for their fur babies!"
